Some au pairs publish their profile and find a family right away. Others change their plans and never return, or publish early before they're actively searching, or are simply on holiday. The long and short of it: neither we, the Premier Au Pair team, nor our algorithms can say for certain whether a profile is still up to date.

So we decided to do something most matching platforms never would: we show you how recently an au pair has been active on our platform, and we factor that into our matching algorithm and search filters.

There are three activity levels:

  1. Recent — last logged in within the past month.
  2. More than a month — last logged in between one and three months ago.
  3. Long ago — everyone else.

You decide

You may recall we recently celebrated our first anniversary. While testing, we noticed that some of the best-matching profiles can be out of date — so one of our recent updates added a filter by activity. Each setting has a tooltip with details. The settings are inclusive: “Quarter”, for example, includes all “Month” profiles. Our latest update sets the default to “Quarter”, which we found the most useful in testing.

The matching algorithm has learnt

Finally, our algorithm now considers activity level in each individually calculated matching score. A low activity level brings a major penalty; the middle level a small one. If you're curious how the matching score works, some of the magic is explained in our FAQ about the matching score.

We know this may reduce the number of profiles you see — but there are so many interesting, up-to-date profiles in our database that we're happy to let you decide. Our mission has always been quality over quantity, and we hope this makes your search more efficient, safer and faster.
